Booming zone
Taiyuan Economic and Technological Development
Zone is located in the central belt of the cooperative development
of "two cities and three districts", where the strategy
of "moving Taiyuan proper from the north to the south"
is implemented. The Zone enjoys convenient transportation
and communication as well as beautiful environment, providing
favourable conditions for investment.
In June 2001, Taiyuan Economic and Technological
Development Zone was ratified as a state -level one by the
State Council. Its planning area is 50 square kilometers,
of which the first- phase construction area is 9.6 square
kilometers. It is to build a specialized industrial park,
a modern physical distribution park, a living and service
park, a university park, a meeting and exhibition centre,
a financial centre, a recreation centre, etc. All these constitute
a modern industrial zone with complete facilities and functions
and smart industrial characteristics.
The Zone adheres to the principle of inviting
foreign investment and cooperation,specially introducing the
famous international enterprises to settle here. In 2003,
it introduced four enterprises as Fushikang, Luomenhasi companies
(Fortune's top 500 enterprises in the world) and 15 enterprises
with huge potential as Yabaoxinlong Medicine Company, Hongquan
Food Package (Taiyuan) Company Limited, Ruifulai Pharmaceutical

The year 2003 is a beginning year to build
the zone in all round way and to make progress by leap sand
bounds. The main economic indexes all doubled the figures
of 2002, of which the tax was increased by 144.48 per cent
over the Last year, the two indexes of total foreign investment
and using contractual foreign investment all ranked the top
of the 14 development zones in the whole province.
By the end of the Tenth Five - Year Plan,
'the zone is to realize the target of 5 enterprises that reach
output value and income of 500.00 million yuan, to introduce
and to support 10 large-sized enterprises with high technology
and modern management. It is to complete the construction
of infrastructures and facilities in the area of 9.6 square
kilometers. When the planned enterprises are basically settled
in the Zone, annual industrial output value is expected to
reach 5.0 billion yuan. By then, the secondary- phase construction
with area of 30 square kilometers will start and a prosperous
development zone will enter into the advanced rank in the
central and western regions of China.
