Production
The climate in Taiyuan features in clear
seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, with annual
average precipitation of 479 mm, annual average temperature
of 11.1 degrees Centigrade and annual sunshine of 2107 hours.
Its annual frost - free period averages 192 days. The total
arable land is 145680 hectares. The rural economic income
is 29.8 billion yuan, with per capita net income of farmers
of 3077 yuan. The total output value of agriculture, forestry,
animal husbandry and fishery reaches 2.937 billion yuan.
A structure consisting of' three components
of "grain crops- cash crops-fodder crops" has been
gradually formed in planting sector. In 2003, the total output
of grain reached 240,900 tons, vegetable output of 1.3444
million tons. A fresh progress in afforestation and protection
of forests has been made, with afforestation area of 4351
hectares, A total of 8.6373 million trees were planted, and
newly increased seedling nursery area was 1250 hectares. The
sectors of animal husbandry, dairy and fishery all have been
constantly growing. Its annual total yield of meat and egg
was 102,300 tons, milk yield 765,00 tons and aquatic products
2500 tons, up 5.3 per cent, 17.3 per cent and 9.5 per cent
from the last year, respectively. The conditions for agricultural
production have been gradually improved. The effective irrigation
area for agriculture has reached 54,720 hectares, with total
machinery power of 1.17 million kilwatts. The total electricity
consumption in rural area was 446 million kilowatt - hours.
The township enterprises have maintained
a rapid development. The total output value of township enterprises
has reached 35.132 billion yuan, with added value of 8.349
billion yuan, business revenue of 29.978 billion yuan, all
having a higher growth rate. |
